The Yeti

Let’s talk about the ice cream that shall not be named. The ice cream still in my deep freezer. Yeah, I tried it again for the sake of this blog. It’s still not great.

It’s just so gritty. But - I was having a great day and the grit in my mouth from the ice cream didn’t bring me down as badly as the first time I tried the flavor. Now, thanks to blogging on Scoop Dreamz, I can eat ice cream with a new frame of mind. Instead of - “Well that was a waste of time and money”. Now I see it kind of as a science. Well maybe not science, but it is using an abridged version of the scientific process.

Scientific Process of Tasting Ice Cream™:

  1. Make a prediction of an ice cream mix based off of a label or appearance

  2. Buy and try that ice cream

  3. Make a note here so I remember if it’s great or not

  4. Compare flavors against prediction flavors

  5. Smile cause I’m eating ice cream

  6. Rinse and repeat.

So onwards with the science!

Yeti Ice Cream by Molly Moon is a “leave it” kind of flavor because of it’s texture alone. Remember Rocky Road Ice Cream? Okay start there and add cacao nibs. Then take out the marshmallows, and then add pumpkin seeds, flax seeds and rolled oats. Make all of those ingredients ¼ - ½ the size of what they are normally.  Switch out the ice cream for a vanilla base, throw in some caramel and you’ve got something close to Yeti - I think…

I could see how people might like Yeti. It sounds good. If you don’t mind the texture I think you’ve got yourself a winner of an ice cream. The ingredients are quality - and alone without the ice cream base and it sounds like you’ve got a pretty tasty sounding cereal. But that’s what it tastes like - cereal - the ice cream is pretty sparse in the mix so it’s melting between all the other bits too fast leaving you with just a spoon full of grit.

This ice cream did indeed make me sad.

1 out of 5 spoons being the reason we started this blog.
